Kevin Colleran, Global Sales Lead of Facebook coming to Fordham

The GBA Media and Communications course on Social Media invites you all to join for a guest lecture and Q&A session by Kevin Colleran, Global Sales Lead of Facebook.

About Kevin Colleran:

Kevin Colleran is the longest tenured employee at Facebook other than the company’s founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg. Colleran joined Facebook in early 2005 and has been based in NY, Boston, and California ever since.

Colleran currently oversees the global partnership between Facebook and Procter & Gamble, Facebook’s largest corporate partner. Previous to this current global role, Colleran oversaw the US partnerships between Facebook and Coca Cola, Johnson & Johnson, and others.

Prior to joining Facebook, Colleran was a consultant working in the music and entertainment industries as well as developing several internet and marketing companies.  Colleran is also an Angel Investor and on the Advisory Board of several technology companies.

Breaking into the World of Media and Entertainment

Join us for an informal chat with Nelson Gayton, Executive Director of UCLA Anderson School of Management, Center for Media, Entertainment and Sports and learn how to break in the world of Media and Entertainment.

Nelson is a noted speaker on the subject of entrepreneurship and financing of filmed entertainment. He has participated as an industry panelist in a number of conferences, such as Ernst & Young Entrepreneurship Conference at the Anderson School of Management, the Philips Interactive Media Conference on Software Development in Los Angeles, NYU MBA Media Conference and Miami Hispanic Media Conference. He has served as a Jury Member at a number of international film festivals, including the Miami Film Festival and the Hispanic Latin Film Festival.

Nelson specializes in entrepreneurship in media, technology and entertainment (including sports). Prior to UCLA, he was an Adjunct Faculty at The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania where he served as the Managing Director of Media & Entertainment Initiative and was instrumental in establishing the Wharton Interactive Media Initiative. Nelson’s accomplishments are also noted at Sony Pictures Entertainment where he assisted the Chairman & CEO in the development and marketing of feature films such as First Knight and Wolf, as well as in the exploration of divisional synergy opportunities in filmed entertainment, television, music and computer entertainment.

1. Demonstrated track record with at least 5+ years experience at a top 5 strategic consultancy, leading research organization, media company or leading product marketer.
2. BA/BS required in business, marketing or related field. MBA a plus.
3. Passion for market driven insights and shaping the forces of the media and advertising industries
4. Ability to translate data and broader information into a meaningful and actionable set of recommendations that can be executed by the management team
5. Demonstrated ability to work in an intense and changing environment with high levels of self motivation and energy
6. Strong project management skills and an ability to effectively drive meaningful recommendation from multiple data points (both quantitative and qualitative)

Intern will assist Marketing & Products Director with:

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

Extensive experience with Word, Excel and Power Point and similar software; HTML, Photoshop, Illustrator, In Design, Flash and FrontPage familiarity helpful.
Added knowledge of:

=> Banner advertisement creation. Familiarity with Flash application helpful.
=> Banner advertising, capturing/digitizing streaming media, image editing/graphic design, internet scripts and project management.
=> Various multimedia, graphics and web development software helpful.
Outstanding verbal, written and interpersonal communications with over arching skill to translate hypotheses and research into powerful points of view—ability to craft and tell a compelling story.
Must be able to work independently on a project basis and meet frequent deadlines.
Excellent team and project-management skills.
Demonstrate “innovative” thinking and new ideas.
